Gretchen and Sweetpea are from the Junior-Duchess Spring 2020 litter. They are also both Intercontinental Champions with the International Canine Kennel Club! Sam is from the Draco-Lucy Fall 2020 litter and looks forward to showing when he's old enough. These youngsters are excellent examples of Daystar dobermans and I am excited to watch them develop and contribute to the next generation of Daystar in turn.
In Memoriam
GretchenUCH Sheza Fetchin' GretchenGretchen came home in March 2003. We went to our first UKC show in Gainesville, TX and both had a great time. She finished her championship in Norman, OK in 2004. Gretchen was a big girl, 26 1/2 inches and 78 pounds. She is the mother of many nice puppies including Gretchen's Baby Buffy (2009). Gretchen passed from a ruptured splenic tumor in 2009. She always was my favorite, and she knew it.

DukeUALCH UCH Heza Dashin' Duke CGCDuke came home in September of 2004. I was showing Gretchen at a local show and took Duke along for some socializing. One of my friends encouraged me to enter Duke in the puppy class and he won the class with very tough competition! Duke never placed below second in his whole career, except once when he was suffering with panosteitis (growing pains).
After Duke passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test I decided to do therapy work with him. Every Sunday for 2 years we headed to Sterling House, an assisted living center. The residents there just loved him. Duke has been such a wonderful sire, producing beautiful pups that are correct with lots of bone and body mass. His puppies and future generations inherit his sweet nature that is such an asset for family pets. He is the sire of Penny and Buffy, and grandsire to Duchess. Duke passed in 2014 at age 10 of bloat. |
PennyUCH Daystar's One Lucky PennyEvery breeder has their claim to fame and mine is Penny, a Duke daughter. She is simply awesome. From the moment I brought her home, I knew I had a winner. I couldn't wait to get her in the ring. At Penny's first show she took Reserve Best In Show Puppy, and a month later took Best In Show Novice Puppy. From the age of 6 months, Penny was competing with seasoned champions, resulting in many Best Of Breeds and even won a Group First.
Karen Shivers of Stonefox was showing UFO UGrCH Stonefox The Dark Lord RN TDI CGC DPNND2 (Padrone) and Penny couldn't take this fantastic dog... so, if you can't beat them, join them! I suggested to Karen that we breed them and Penny was retired from the ring. She produced a lovely litter and Karen took Lexus, a black female for her pick. We repeated the breeding again and Penny and Padrone struck gold, producing UCD URO3 UGCH Stonefox Ring Of Fire TD RN CGC DPNND (Cash). Cash is as close to perfect as we can get, and along with grandpa Duke's disposition, is a top show and working dog. Penny's puppies have her beautiful eyes and near perfect conformation. She was lightning in a jar. Penny passed in 2014 at the age of 9. |
